Henry de Notehoe c. 1265 – fl.1300

Recorded as Henry de Notehoe of Notehoe Hall in Totyngton in the parish of Bury, county Lancaster, Henry was the son of Richard de Notehoe, and was known to be living in 1300.  This is this first mention of Notehoe Hall, and of Totyngton.

This means that there must have been a Notehoe Hall by the early fourteenth century.

The above photograph only shows part of the Hall, and was taken after the castellated entrance was replaced by William Grant and Bros. the well-known mill owners of Ramsbottom, after they bought the Hall and lands  in 1820 and developed it into a farm of some repute. There is no image of the Hall in its entirety, but below is an artists impression of what it might have been like. There was a yard and other buildings behind.
