Francis Nuttall was born on 16 July 1657 in Booth Edgeside, Lancashire. On 12 February 1683, when Francis was 25, he married Annis Milles (probably Ann or Anne Mills) at the church of St Nicholas, Newchurch in Rossendale. They were married by Thomas Sanders. In the Parish Register Francis is recorded as ffrancis fil John Nuttall (Francis, son of John Nuttall). They had at least one son, Joshua, born in 1684 and baptised at St Nicholas Church. The Parish Record for 7th May 1684 shows the baptism of Joshua Nuttall “fil of Ffrancisci Nuttall” (son of Francis Nuttall). At this time, Francis was living at Turnhill. He is recorded in the Parish Register as “ffrancis Nuttall de Turnhill”. There is also a record of one Christopher, born on 31st May 1681, who may have been Francis’s first born.

Francis died in 1715 at Dean, near Rawtenstall, and was buried at St Nicholas Church, Newchurch in Rossendale, on 10th May 1715.
